ALERT MAGAZINE ESSAY CONTEST FOR SENIORS -Alert Magazine has an essay contest (for $500) for graduating seniors who write a drug and/or alcohol abuse prevention essay of 600 to 1000 words. You must be a senior with at least a 2.5 GPA and plan to attend college after graduation. You may see Mrs. Ruecker for printed information or go to www.alertmagazine.org or call 1-800-398-0842. There is no deadline. The magazine is published twice a year. |

CAREERS THAT WORK -If you are going to a private career college in Washington, Oregon or Idaho you may be eligable to receive a $1,000 scholarship to help pay tuition. If you would like to see which career colleges participate in this scholarship please check the scholarship notebook in the Counseling Office or see Mrs. Ruecker. Some examples of these schools are: ITT Tech, Perry Tech, Art Institute of Portland and Seattle, DigiPen,DeVry University, Gene Juarez Academy, Oregon Culinary Institute, and Western Culinary Institute in Portland.These scholarships are awarded on a first come first served basis so don't wait to check this out. |

IMAGINE AMERICA CAREER COLLEGE SCHOLAR -The Imagine America Scholarship are for students with at least a 2.5 GPA who are going to a career college or tech. school. WA-HI gets to award three of these $1,000 scholarhsips on a first come first served basis to qualified candidates. They also are looking for volunteer work in your senior year. U OF W COLLEGE OF FOREST RESOURCES -The U of W College of Forest Resources and Paper Science and Engineering has 40 scholarships offered this year. If you are interested in Engineering, Recycling, Environmental Science or Business Management, you may want to look into these scholarships. There is an Info Night on October 25, 2007 in Pasco at the Best Western Inns and Suites from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. |

BEV & WES STOCK SCHOLARSHIP -The Seattle Mariners Women's Club offers the Bev and Wes Stock Scholarship to a college bound senior planning to pursue an athletic related career. This is a one year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship. This requires an essay, a transcript and letters of recommendation. The deadline is June 1, 2008. See Mrs. Ruecker for more details. |

NORDSTROM SCHOLARSHIP for juniors -The Nordstrom Scholarship will be awarded to five students in the Washington/Alaska region. Each $10,000 scholarship will be paid over 4 years at $2,500 a year. To be eligable, you need to be a senior in the fall of 2008, have at least a 2.7 GPAand have financial need. The deadline for juniors to apply is May 31, 2008.
